4 - 18 Months

Between 4 and 18 months a profound amount of development and growth takes place and babies grow and change rapidly. Cognitively they move from recognising faces, noticing music, passing things from hand to hand, watching things fall, to learning how to use basic objects like spoons and pointing to named body parts.

Socially and emotionally they develop from

responding to facial expressions, becoming clingy, to engaging in simple pretend games and possibly crying around strangers. Their language abilities

extend from laughing and babble sounds to waving goodbye and knowing

how to say no.

Physically they develop from the ability to push up on their arms, rolling over, pulling up into standing positions, to being able to stand alone, walking while holding onto something or someone and learning to drink from a cup. During this developmental phase a baby is completely dependent on its parents and caregivers. The most important aspect is nurturing emotional

care.

Our babies are given frequent tummy time and core strengthening activities while being closely monitored at all times. We focus on sensory stimulation and allowing our babies to discover their world through play.

Our staff provide loving and nurturing human interaction with our babies. They spend their days playing with our babies, talking to our babies, cuddling our babies and making sure our babies feel comforted, safe and most of all loved.

Our babies are exposed to different types of toys, musical instruments such as bells and rattles and taught how to hold, drop and roll balls.

We encourage movement by placing toys around them to reach for and they play with stacking toys. Our staff also enjoy reading to our Little ones and singing songs to them and reciting nursery rhymes to and with them.
